YORK’S BUDGET AT A GLANCE…
York University’s tuition fee revenues are going up year after year.
From 2007 to 2008, income from fees rose from $316 to $332 million.
York has accumulated a massive budget surplus.
Since our last contract in 2005, they have posted a total cumulative surplus of $139.9 million over 4 years.
York now gets increased provincial funding for graduate studies.
This equals an increase of $23 million in 2006 and $38 million in 2007.
The York Foundation has raised over $160 million in their ‘York to the Power of 50’ campaign.

WHERE’S ALL THE MONEY GOING? …NOT INTO THE CLASSROOM.
Members of CUPE 3903 do more than 50% of the teaching at York University,
yet our contract represents just 7.5% of the total operating budget.
York’s Budget 2007-2008
Their overall revenue is $848 million.
The total cost of wages and benefits for CUPE 3903 contracts in 2007-2008 is $62.5 million.
A classroom of 60 undergrads brings in $100,000 in revenue but pays just $14,000 to the Contract Faculty member teaching them.
